King of the Hammers - February 8th - 13th 2010 at Johnson Valley, California

Team Rock Out Racing has returned from the most grueling race in our sport....King of the Hammers. Kim was set up with our good friend Todd Cox to be the co-driver for this race, who also rode with her last year in the LCQ at the Hammers.

Kim and Todd drove a conservative race with one goal in mind this year...FINISH, and finish respectively.  This is a brutal race and you know going in that over half the field isn't going to finish, so the team knew we needed to prepare for that.

135 miles of desert and the hardest rock trails in the country was definitely going to put the car and Kim to the test.  It definitely did.

Kim made it to the last pit at race mile 115 with no problems really.  Just gas and go and hope to finish.  Some time passed by and no radio contact to the car, we were wondering what happened.  It turned out Todd and Kim had a GPS malfunction.  After 2 hours Kim and Todd finally made their way to Sledgehammer still going strong.

The GPS malfunction really set them behind.  Nobody was around, not even spectators when she got on Sledge.  She pulled up on the first obstacle and broke a front passenger axle shaft.  She backed off and pulled up on another line to check it out and the front driver axle shaft broke.  Due to it being a no-chase race, we were helpless and knew our race was done.

Her spirit was down for a moment, but she soon realized how far she made it and the team is very proud of the job her and Todd accomplished that awesome day.  What an experience!
